Year 5 Geography

25th March 2022

This week in Geography we learnt about mountains and their physical features.

There are many types of mountains, but we focused on Dome and Fault-Block. Dome mountains are formed when magma pushes up and forces the crust to bulge into a dome shape. Fault-Block are formed when faults in the Earth's crust break into blocks. These blocks move up and down, creating mountains with two slopes - steep and gentle. We have also studied about the physical features on mountains, for example, faces, ridges, tree lines etc.
