U13 Girls' A Team v Braeside
In a much more hotly contested affair than our previous game, Kukor and Grace gave everything they had to keep Braeside at bay. The 2 quarters saw us defend for the majority with only one real attacking opportunity created from a lovely connection between Mia and Elena on the right wing. The second half saw BGE play a much freer and wider-spaced game, moving the ball along the wings and creating chance after chance, and dominating the possession statistics for the second half.
The team were unfortunate not to get on the scoreboard after some serious hard work, particularly in the final quarter. The game ended 4-0.
MVP: Elena
U13 Girls' B Team v Braeside
The U13 B team put on an amazing performance versus Braeside. Although we were a bit rusty at the beginning, we grew into the game as Neema and Eiman linked play and played accurate passes to Senna and Penelope.
Our goalkeeper, Naima, made some excellent saves in the first half to keep the scores even. At half time we made some changes: Malila and Zaira came on and had several attempts at goal, but the Braeside 'keeper was also having a good day.
Throughout the match, our defenders Giada and Nadia protected our D with vigor through fantastic marking, channeling and tackling. Well done to all of our players. Final score 0-0 MVPs Neema and Naima.
U13 Boys' A Team v Braeside
The under 13 A boys' hockey team welcomed Braeside to BGE on Wednesday in what was always going to be a tough clash. Braeside began on the front foot but it was Samuel who pushed home the first goal for BGE. Braeside hit straight back and then some unfortunate defending allowed Braeside to go 3-1 up. The boys went all out attack at the Braeside goal; Ryan pulling one back. Unfortunately, some excellent Braeside goalkeeping kept the final score to 3-2. The boys know stronger defending is what is required as we move forward but, in all, a promising performance.
MVP - Samuel
U13 Boys' B Team v Braeside
Missing several players, and with some boys playing out of position, the B team worked their socks off on Wednesday to earn a 1-1 draw with Braeside. We were quick out of the blocks, with Jules stroking home after 4 minutes to give us the lead. Back came Braeside, but they couldn't get past our immovable object (Shiv) in goal.
Heading into the 3rd quarter, BGE were still in the lead. Unfortunately, the pressure told and Braeside snatched their equaliser after some smart attacking play. In the final quarter both teams had chances to win it, but in the end a 1-1 draw was a fair result. Well done to all of the boys on a determined performance.
Man of the Match: Shiv.
