Tea time concert

26th November 2021

November 15th provided another chance to enjoy the fruit of the Music departments labours, this time for the parents of Key Stage 3 students. With a couple of newly rehearsed additions this was an excellent concert and the confidence and skills had certainly developed over the two weeks since the previous event. The year 8 band gave us a healthy dose of 90s rock with a Green Day classic, Selene (year 11) opened the fantastic ‘Hallelujah’ by Jeff Buckly before the choir accompanied, to send the lyrics out to an audience that soaked up the heartfelt performance in silence before nearly taking the roof off with an rapturous applause. The orchestra brought a touch of London’s Royal Albert Hall to BGE with Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory and USB were up to their tricks, adding a jaunty version of Undercover Martyn to their repertoire to close out the concert with an injection of foot tapping energy.
