BGE v Braeside Match

2nd February 2022

U11 Girls' A Team v Braeside

On Tuesday the U11A girls played Braeside in their second match this term. The girls played well carrying the ball and looking for passes. Due to a solid defence and taking the shooting opportunities the game ended 3-1 to BGE. A good competitive match.

U11 Girls' B Team V Braeside

BGE hosted our 1st U11 B girls hockey match on Tuesday. The girls had good ball possession and control in the early exchanges, putting Braeside on the back foot. As the 1st quarter went on, both teams had a good number of opportunities but a combination of very good saves from Sita and Katelyn and shots wide meant it stayed 0-0.

Just before half time, Sarah dribbled past several defenders and lifted the ball over the advancing GK - a lovely piece of individual skill to break the deadlock.

As the match went on, Inoa and Savannah gradually started to transfer the ball better using the push pass, getting the ball through to Angel and Sarah. This led to lovely combination play and bagged us 3 more goals.
The final score was BGE 4-0 Braeside and the MVP was our captain Sarah.

U11 Boys' A Team v Braeside

A gritty performance by the boys in yellow saw them run out 4-3 winners against Braeside on Tuesday, in what was a hard-fought victory.

It was a topsy-turvy match as BGE scored, Braeside equalised, BGE scored again, Braeside equalised again, and so on until we were finely poised at 3-3 heading into the final quarter. This BGE team are a determined bunch, and they produced one last effort to secure a deserved win and send our one supporter on the day (Mr. Richards) home happy.

The goals were scored by Vidan, Siem, Essien and Sammy, with Sammy taking home the Man of the Match award as he covered every blade of grass.
